This list of Heritage Practitioners and Related Resources has been compiled for the convenience of historic property owners and interested individuals. A wide variety of publicly accessible sources of information were used, including: existing municipal lists of heritage professionals; professional associations; advertisements from conferences and heritage journals/magazines and other public listings; individual requests to be listed; and suggestions from the heritage sector and local community.
The list is provided for information purposes only, and is not an endorsement or provision of recommendations from Architectural Conservancy Ontario (ACO). Individuals are strongly encouraged to undertake their own inquiries prior to selecting a professional or product for their heritage property.
The list is not all-inclusive. If you are a heritage professional, an individual or an organization that offers heritage related products or services, please email us at email@example.com if you would like to be added to the Directory.
The list has been augmented by educational materials and suggested questions you may wish to ask. Whether you use a contact from this list or someone else you are familiar with, it is extremely important that as a property owner you request information regarding the professionals’ accreditations, expertise, references and previous work, to ensure that you are hiring an experienced and qualified contractor and/or specialist for the job and/or the right product for your property.
For further information and advice on heritage matters, contact your local Municipal Heritage Planning staff at the Region of Waterloo, City of Kitchener, City of Waterloo or City of Cambridge and/or your local branch of Architectural Conservancy Ontario (ACO). These groups will be able to provide additional information and may also be able to connect you with individual heritage property owners who are willing to share their experiences of looking for professional assistance, as well as their insights and advice.
